ABOUT THE PROJECT
The ICW – Intercultural Community Worker – for Health is a pilot project that aims to increase knowledge and access by immigrant families in NDG to the social and health services offered and available.
The mandate of the ICW is to:
Carry out personalized interventions with immigrants to understand their needs and identify the appropriate services needed.
Based on the first evaluation of the personal situation of the participants, the ICW Health can accompany the participants during their first medical appointments, to the pharmacy or during follow-ups.
If necessary, the ICW Health can help participants access interpreting services.
The mandate of the ICW Health is also to break isolation by organizing collective and informative activities or by encouraging registration for activities organized by BNDG.
Explain to immigrant families how the health services work
The ICW Health organizes group meetings with the aim of informing participants about the social and health services available to them and the administrative procedures.
In particular, the ICW Health informs participants of their rights as users of the health and social services network.
Liaise between families and the various health services in the region
The ICW Health promotes the services offered to health and social services.
The ICW Health also informs and raises awareness in the community about the needs of immigrant clients; facilitates communication and provides cross-cultural mediation between immigrant families and caregivers.
The ICW Health will also establish partnerships with health and social services organizations, participate in local or regional consultation meetings and any relevant training.
The ICW Health project is supported by the MIFI.
Soon families from Ukraine will start arriving in Montreal and they will need a place to stay.
If you can offer free housing or low-cost accommodation for a short period of time, please get in touch with us.
We are collecting information about available housing in NDG and we will connect Ukrainian families that request help with homeowners who are ready to host them.
