Intercultural Community Couselor – School (ICS)

The project “Intervenants Communautaires Scolaires (ICS)” is a collective action set up in the winter of 2014 in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, in response to the issues of school perseverance and social isolation. Posted in the schools, the Community School Intervenors (ICS) weave bonds of trust with the parents (new arrivals, isolated, in precarious situation) and help them to meet the winning conditions allowing them to facilitate the perseverance schooling of their child. They offer a wide range of activities to meet the needs of families: training workshops, outings and parent-child reconciliation activities, coffee-meetings, as well as listening and a personalized reference service.
The project is the result of a community mobilization that originated in various forums such as: the NDG quality of life forum, the NDG strategic planning, the NDG Youth Dialogue Table, the Action Committee 6-12 NDG, the Fielding / Walkley mobilization and revitalization process, and the CSDM Neighborhood Committee in NDG.
