Intercultural Exchange Program
ABOUT THE SERVICE
In early 2021, Bienvenue à Notre-Dame-de-Grâce launched its Intercultural Exchange project as part of the Programme d’accompagnement et de soutien à l’intégration (PASI).
Intercultural exchange refers to the creation and the establishment of a social bond between a newly arrived immigrant – newcomer participant – and a member of the host society – host participant – or between two families.
The main objective of the program is to increase opportunities for intercultural exchange and to break the isolation of newcomer individuals and families in order to facilitate their social integration. The program also encourages members of the host society to learn the realities of newcomers to the neighborhood.
By participating in this program, the host participants will have the opportunity to:
- Share their knowledge of the cultural environment and of community life in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce
- Give back to their community by supporting the integration of new residents
- Discover the multicultural richness of our neighborhood and travel through their stories
By participating in this program, newcomer participants will have the opportunity to:
- Familiarize themselves with Quebec society and community life in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce
- Forge networks and resources in the community
- Practice and improve their French language skills
